VA SPINAL CORD INJURY UNIT TOUR

You may not be able to walk again but you can FLY

The Mission

This mission conducts a fly-in tour of selected VA Hospital Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Centers by the first paraplegic helicopter pilot.

NV3’s vocational program opens the world of aviation to veterans with spinal cord injuries. There are no other options currently by which paraplegic veterans can fly helicopters. This addresses the need of veterans with SCI to regain a sense of purpose and productivity in their lives and enables them to enter (or renter) the aviation community.

By conducting a fly-in of VA Spinal Units, we not only make veterans with SCI aware of new opportunities, but they can actually see a paraplegic pilot land on the hospital grounds, get out of a sleek helicopter into a wheelchair and then join them to talk about possibilities in aviation that they may have not realized were open to them.
